The Firm Built for Challenge.
We are a specialised advisory firm built on a foundation of intellectual rigor, independence, and principal-led delivery.
Our Philosophy
Marentis Labs was founded on a single premise: that the most significant threats to complex organisations are not the risks they identify, but the flawed assumptions they fail to challenge. Conventional strategic planning is often an exercise in reinforcing consensus. We provide a necessary, independent challenge function.
Our purpose is to bring a disciplined, adversarial mindset to high-stakes decisions. By systematically stress-testing strategies, financial models, and institutional designs, we provide leaders with the foresight to act with greater confidence and build more resilient enterprises.
The Boutique Advantage
Engaging a large, generalist consulting firm often means paying premium rates for junior teams. We offer a fundamentally different, principal-led model.
Principal-Led Delivery
The team that pitches the work is the team that delivers the work. You receive direct, undiluted access to senior expertise, ensuring accountability and higher quality of insight.
Focused on Value
Our lean structure means that client fees are invested in high-impact expertise, not expensive corporate overhead. We provide a higher concentration of senior talent for the investment.
The Founder
Owen Vallis
Strategic Risk Executive, Financial Services Group Chief Risk Officer and Independent Non-Executive Director
Owen Vallis applies two decades of senior experience in institutional governance and strategic risk management to stress-test corporate strategy and investment decisions. His perspective was formed at the highest levels of global finance, including senior risk leadership roles at Credit Suisse, JP Morgan, and Morgan Stanley. As the first Group Chief Risk Officer for SICO Bank, he overhauled the organisation's holistic risk management function, reporting directly to the Board.
This executive experience is complemented by a distinct understanding of board-level oversight from his non-executive appointments in the public and non-profit sectors. This includes service on the Audit and Risk Committee for a government arms-length body that reports directly to Parliament.
His experience as both a senior executive accountable to a board and a non-executive director providing its oversight creates a distinct and valuable perspective, providing the insight required to identify the flawed assumptions and hidden vulnerabilities that undermine performance.
His mission is to equip Boards and C-suite teams with the foresight, challenge, and frameworks to navigate complex risk and drive performance.
